1. Some Breeds Have Short whiskers
It could be a breed-related issue if your cat always has short whiskers. The Devon Rex, Cornish Rex. Selkirk Rex and the Sphynx are all breeds that have short or no whiskers. They also have unique haircoats: some are wavy or curly while the Sphynx, for example, is known to be hairless.
2. Whiskers Have been Chewed Off
During play, kittens’ whiskers can be chewed by their littermates. In other cases, mother cats have been known to chew off their kitten’s whiskers. It’s thought that they do this to keep their kittens close to them and not wander away from the nest.
