Historic federal infrastructure investments present major economic opportunities for cities and state across the country. Expansion of electric vehicle (EV), charging infrastructure presents one of the most promising avenues to create job opportunities. This is a once in a generation opportunity to bring transformational economic growth to underserved community.
Through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act’s (IIJA) National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program (NEVI), the states have access to significant federal funding and resources in order to achieve ambitious EV adoption goals. The demand for workers skilled in installation, assembly and maintenance of charging system is increasing as charging infrastructure expands.
The National Governors Association and the National League of Cities have teamed up to launch the State and Local Collaborative for an Inclusive Workforce in the Electric Vehicle Charging Sector.
