Zita was born in the 13th century in Tuscany, near Lucca. She was raised in a Catholic home and was a happy person. She was 12 years old when she moved to Lucca, Italy to serve and live with the Fatinelli Family. Zita’s employers admired her for being so sweet-natured, humble, and pious. It did not make Zita popular among her fellow servants. Zita, however, was unconcerned by this. She did not care about pleasing men, but God. By serving God she would naturally serve others with humility. Even when she was mistreated, by her colleagues and even her employer at times, she maintained her joyous character. It was not unnoticed, and she soon gained their respect and admiration. She was quickly promoted to supervise all household matters and in charge of other servants.

Zita would not have acted in this way if she had been in a position of power. She could have easily used it to get revenge on her coworkers for the abuse they had done her. Zita treated everyone with fairness and love. She would not tolerate abuses or vices in the household and would correct them but with love.
