Former Top Gear presenter Tiff Needell joins hosts Jason Plato and Dave Vitty on the award-winning podcast Fuelling Around to discuss his career and why he hasn’t bought a car in over 40 years.

Needell was best known as the host of BBC’s flagship show Top Gear between 1987 and 2001. She shared the stage with celebrities such as Jeremy Clarkson Quentin Willson Vicki Butler-Henderson.

The 72-year old reveals his entire television career in the episode. He also talks about what it was like to race in Formula 1, work with Plato, and more.

Tiff Needell reveals impact of  Freddie Flintoff’s Top Gear crash

During the podcast, Needell told the story of the filming of a segment that was supposed to be part of an upcoming Top Gear series. However, the BBC pulled the plug after an accident involving Freddie Flintoff.

“I lost huge fame that was coming my way! I was back on Top Gear,” Needell explained.

“They had a little item, where they had a 70s, 80s and 90s Top Gear presenter, where I was with Chris Harris for the 90s section, there was Chris Goffey and there was Angela Rippon.

“We had to do two laps of the track in the wet, sliding around, and having a laugh. You had to take a stupid quiz at the middle of your lap, where you would lose time if you failed.
