Back to life! The Rebirth Of A 2004 Chevy Silverado Dually

It’s Just So Back!

You may recognize this 2004 Chevy Silverado dually, and for good reason. As devoted readers of Street Trucks, you’ll find it in your May 2022 issue in a feature titled “OMG Becki,” albeit with a somewhat different look. You’ve probably read this article. If you read that article (you do, right? ), then you’ll know that the truck suffered an unfortunate accident just after it was photographed. For many, that would be the end of the story—a once great truck that was just too far gone to fix.

Here’s the hard-earned result of the work required to turn the truck into a paving behemoth. A year and a half of rebuilding, and you’d never know that the taillights were once almost occupying the same space as the rear wheels—not exactly the kind of patina folks are going for these days. Bill Dubuisson was determined to make his truck even better.

Since the majority of the damage was to the bed and rear of the cab, that’s the first thing Bill tended to by dropping the truck off with his buddy Eric Hingle at Hingle’s Street Rods & Customs for some much-needed love. Eric painted the truck in True Blue Pearl instead of Calypso Green, and the bodywork was flawless. Eric also color-matched the bumpers, tow mirrors, and 1500-series bumpers.

Since its overhaul, Bill has had the truck at tons of events, where it usually picks up a Best Paint award, if not Best of Show—or both.

Bill was ready to add some new graphics after a fresh basecoat. He called Daniel Smith of Smithworkx and asked for some bold and bright designs using Orion Polarity Pink and Green Flash. Mimosa and Nitrous blue Kandy were also used. The bedliner was sprayed on the inner sheetmetal of the bed to match the color scheme.

…the new color and graphics completely transformed the truck’s attitude and somehow makes it look longer and sleeker, especially when it’s skating down the highway with a loaded gooseneck trailer!

Although similar in some ways, the new color and graphics completely transformed the truck’s attitude and somehow makes it look longer and sleeker, especially when it’s skating down the highway with a loaded gooseneck trailer! This Chevy looks as good as it performs, thanks to the sturdy Phat Phabz chassis with its air-ride and body-dropped design. It was a chassis that survived the low-speed crash which led to the rebuild. Using quality parts pays off!

The interior is completely red, making this truck stand out.

If you missed the original feature, it’s just as insane inside as outside, albeit not as out-there. Innerworx, in Sarasota Florida, upholstered the factory-cut down bucket seats with custom interior panels, and created a center console that also serves as a enclosure for Kicker amps and subs. As the final touch, a Budnik ice billet steering wheel has been bolted on the steering shaft. This adds the perfect amount of bling and combines well with the color-matched dash.

Since its overhaul, Bill has had the truck at tons of events, where it usually picks up a Best Paint award, if not Best of Show—or both. And with a truck this large and in charge there’s no trailering it, so it gets plenty of miles put on it despite its show-winning status. Now let’s just hope that there’s never a need for a Becki 3.0!
