The Governors Homeland Security Advisors Council (GHSAC) met January 30 – February 1, 2024, in Washington, D.C., for its annual Winter Meeting. The GHSAC regularly brings together Governors’ homeland security advisors from states, commonwealths, territories, and the District of Columbia. It also keeps governors informed of the threat environment, the impact of federal homeland legislation, regulations and policies as well as sharing and promoting best practices.

Representatives from 41 states and territories as well as the District of Columbia attended this year’s Winter Meeting. Topics discussed during this year’s meeting included the overall current threat environment, critical infrastructure protection, countering the threat posed by Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), energy security, cybersecurity, emerging threats, and drug trafficking prevention.

The GHSAC also spoke to distinguished leaders in the United States, including FBI Director Wray and Secretary of Homeland Security Mayorkas.
