The Students Federation of India (SFI) leaders and students on Saturday staged a dharna outside the cluster university, demanding that vice-chancellor Prof. Sai Gopal issue hall-tickets to students enrolled at the Government Boys’ College in Kurnool city.
Rangappa, the district president of SFI and Abdullah, its secretary, said that most college students come from poor backgrounds. They alleged that the college principal was demanding fee despite the financial aid being provided towards students’ fee through Jagananna Vidya Deevena.
In order to avoid helping students, the principal claims the fees have not yet been disbursed. The protesters claim that their insistence on paying fees before receiving funds led to the withholding of hall tickets. Leaders of the SFI have called on district collectors and Higher Education commissioners to intervene in order to provide justice to affected students.
