In SoHo, you’ll find the five-seat Guild Bar tucked away in an alcove connecting two streets. Roman and Williams GuildLa Mercerie is a French restaurant run by the same team that owns the artisan-stocked furniture, lighting, home accessories boutique.

A hand-painted mural by artist Dean Barger sets the moody tone for the star attractions: cocktails by La Mercerie’s director, Aaron Thorp, which he created to complement the bar’s bespoke glassware. The Phosphorescence is, for example inspired by the hand-blown coupe of Seoul artist Hyunsung Cho.

“I wanted to balance the look and feel of the glass with an unexpected, more serious cocktail,” Thorp says. “The recipe is based on different sherries and vermouths and finished with a hint of Szechuan-infused Campari. The resulting ruby color is perfect in Hyunsung’s coupe.”

You can also recreate the cocktail magic in your own home with glassware.
