Los Angeles: Robert Downey Jr., the Hollywood superstar, has just won his first Oscar Award for his performance in ‘Oppenheimer”, a biopic-drama film.

Downey, Jr. won in the category of Best Supporting Actor.

The Academy took to X and shared a message, writing, “Congratulations Robert Downey Jr. for winning Best Supporting actor for ‘Oppenheimer!’!”

He won over Sterling K Brown, Robert De Niro and Ryan Gosling.

Downey Jr. thanked the Academy and his terrible childhood in that order after taking the stage.

He joked that he would like to say thank you to Susan Downey. She saved me from a snarling, rescue dog and brought me back to life, according to PEOPLE.

Later, he expressed his gratitude to Christopher Nolan, director of Oppenheimer and his costars.

“I needed this work more than I needed it. Chris was sure …,”, he declared before thanking Emily Blunt for her work with Cillian Murph and Emily Blunt. “I am a man who is better than I was before…
