Mixxer Community Makerspace in Winston-Salem is a non-profit that offers a home for innovators, creatives and artists. The mission of Mixxer Community Makerspace is to build a creative community by providing equal access to tools, tech and knowledge to everyone regardless of background or experience. The 7500-square-foot building is located in downtown Winston-Salem’s Industry Hill neighborhood and boasts a wide range of amenities, including a metalworking shop, woodshop, 3D printing, industrial laser cutter, etc. Mixxer is convinced that by enhancing access to resources like these, people will be able to build meaningful lives, pursue rewarding jobs and strengthen communities.
Providing leadership and guidance to Mixxer is Director of Wake Downtown and Chair of Mixxer’s Board of Directors Alana James. James, a native of Ohio, fell in Love with Winston-Salem while studying at Wake Forest University. He has been a proud resident of Winston-Salem ever since.
