Eric LeGrand has a number of talents, including being a motivational and sports speaker, as well as philanthropists, entrepreneurs, authors, and an all-around incredible young man. Former Rutgers University Football standout, Eric LeGrand’s life was changed forever when he suffered a severe spinal cord injury while making a tackle during a game against West Point at MetLife Stadium in October 2010.
He quickly realized that he needed to educate himself about spinal cord injuries in order to be able to help others. “I heard devastating stories of how people get injured and what they are going through. Some have a support system, and some do not,” says LeGrand. “I realized how blessed I was to have what I had and the people that are there for me. About two years ago, I started to question myself. How can I be of assistance to others?”
In 2012, he reached out to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, which is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury. In 2013, he founded Team LeGrand. This team has raised over $1 million to support quality-of life initiatives and accelerate the discovery of treatments for spinal cord injury.
