Christie’s to auction ‘last treasures’ of Avery family wine cellar


The auction will include the 1969 vintage of Dom Pérignon Rosé.

Christie’s said the auction on 6 and 7 June will feature some of the greatest and rarest bottles ever produced, and has named the sale, ‘A Legacy Preserved: The Last Treasures from The Avery Wine Collection’.

The bottles in the collection were purchased by different generations of Averys family, the historic Bristol wine merchant founded in 1793.

One bottle of rare wine will be included in the sale. Château d’Yquem 1921 (estimate: £2,000 – £4,000). 

Yquem, 1921, is a Decanter This famous Sauternes estate is a Wine Legend, and contender for the best vintage of the 20th century. 

The following lots are also included in the sale: 

  • 12 bottles of Château Lafleur 1971 | estimate £10,000 – £15,0000  
  • One bottle of Romanee Conti 1969 | £6,000 – £10,000
  • one bottle of Bollinger Vieilles Vignes Françaises 1969 | £2,000 – £4,000
  • One bottle Inglenook Cask J3 Cabernet Sauvignon 1954 | £1,000 – £2,000
  • One bottle of Champagne Salon 1972 | £2,000 – £4,000
