Although peanut butter isn’t poisonous to cats it can still cause severe health problems, particularly if it’s fed regularly. Peanut butter contains a lot of fat, sodium and calories that are bad for cats. 

Cats have a low to no requirement for carbohydrates. Human treats like peanut butter offer no nutritional value to a cat’s diet. 

Trans-fatty acids are high in peanut butter, which helps it to remain shelf stable. This type is fat is unhealthy for cats, and especially if they are already overweight. 

Peanut butter is also unhealthy for cats due to its high sodium and calories content. Peanut butter can also pose health risks to your cat. 

  • Allergies: That’s right, just like humans can be allergic to peanut butter your cat can be, too. The severity can range from itchy, swollen skin to anaphylaxis. 
  • Peanut butter may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach discomfort.
