We all lose people we love sooner or later.

That’s a very uncomfortable thought, but it’s true. Which begs an important question: “How do we live in the shadow of absolute loss and still enjoy a happy, fulfilled life?”

John Wooden, the legendary college basketball coach, had some interesting things to say about this idea. When a reporter asked him at 99 if he had any fear of dying, he replied that ‘no. Coach Wooden didn’t have to stop and ponder his answer. He immediately said, “Absolutely not. Nellie and I were married for 53 years, and I look forward to seeing her again.”

Coach Wooden believed that life was more than living and dying. His relationships continued even after his death. You can also find out more about the following: Coach was able to see his loved ones again. For Coach, the grave wasn’t the end. The grave was not the end for Coach.

It’s a sobering truth that we live in a broken world where suffering is unavoidable. We can live with purpose and meaning, if we believe that life will always triumph over death and that evil is defeated by good. It is only this hope that can make us live every day in peace and joy.
