National Margarita Day is a great time to try out these 5 Margarita recipes.

The margarita is a cocktail that’s hard to beat. The tangy triple Sec adds a burst to the flavor of this iced cocktail, which is cut by the warmth of the tequila and the tartness from the lime. It’s a crowd-pleaser!

February 22 is National Margarita Day, a chance to pay homage to one of the most popular tequila cocktails—but the jury is still out on who invented the drink. It is believed to have originated in Mexico between the 1930s and 1940s. The cocktail was created in 1938 by a Mexican restaurant manager for Marjorie King, a showgirl. Margaret Sames, a Texas socialite, may have concocted the cocktail in Mexico during a 1948 house party. Texas Monthly reported in the 1970s that it was actually Francisco “Pancho” Morales, a well-known bartender in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. He claims he invented the drink in 1942 on the fly when he didn’t know how to make the magnolia cocktail a customer asked for.

Celebrate National Margarita Day with a delicious margarita! Try these five tasty recipes.
