Since 2013, Carl F. Bucherer Has been a staunch supporter of the Manta Trust. This commitment will continue in 2023 with the introduction the Patravi ScubaTec Verde, the brand’s latest dive watch. With the launch of the watch, the trust is also embarking on its most recent research expedition in Ecuador, which harbors the world’s largest recorded population of oceanic manta rays.
The Patravi ScubaTec Verde has a green hue, which is reflected in its name. It extends from the dial’s lacquered finish, with its wave-like design, to its ceramic ring and rubber strap. The strap has a textile inlay that is made of recycled PET. The vivid color palette is inspired by the lush green waters that surround Isla de La Plata. It’s a small, uninhabited island located about 40 kilometers off Ecuadorian shores. Isla de La Plata hosts more than 22,000 oceanic rays every August and Septembre, creating a vibrant and vital sight. CFB will provide comprehensive funding for a team of dedicated researchers from Proyecto Mantas Ecuador and the Manta Trust to study the manta population.
With a remarkable water resistance of up to 50 bar, which stands as the deepest specification in CFB’s range of diving watches, this timepiece showcases its robust design. The 44.6mm case is made of steel and equipped with a water-resistant seal, a screwed-down crown and a helium-releasing valve. This ensures the safety of the case during diving and ascents. The thick sapphire glass, with anti-reflective coatings on both surfaces, increases clarity. The watch’s legibility is guaranteed even at significant depths, thanks to hands and index markers filled with Super-LumiNova. The unidirectional rotating dial is also fitted with a SuperLumiNova indicator to facilitate precise orientation.
A COSC certified chronometer, the caliber 1950.1 ensures accuracy within. The self-winding mechanism is hidden beneath a caseback engraved with a manta motif.
