nrakich Nathaniel Rakich is a senior elections analyst. For many years, the economy was seen as a huge liability in President Biden’s reelection attempt. Inflation reached a peak of 9.1 per cent in last June. Gas prices were above $5 per gallon in the same month. In the second quarter 2022, gross domestic product actually declined by 0.6 percent. In a Quinnipiac University survey conducted in July 2022, only 28 percent approved of Biden’s handling of the economy.
