Shelter Island Runabout Outboard

The Shelter Island Runabout, a design conceived in the 1990s by singer-songwriter Billy Joel and designer Doug Zurn and built by Long Island’s CH Marine, is available with outboard power. Power configurations include twin outboard engines with between 300 and 450 horsepower.

Shelter Island Runabout measures 38 feet in length and has a V-hull design that is moderate with a deadrise transom of 15 degrees. It also features a beam size of 10 feet.

The seating options are many. Wraparound seats or folding captain chairs, as well as benches in the middle of the pilothouse can be selected. The canvas top is standard on the runabout, but it can also be ordered with a hardtop.

Runabouts are also available with hardtops.

The interior varnish is a traditional ‘rubbed’ effect finish, but can alternatively be finished with a bright gloss. Four opening ports, as well as overhead hatches, provide plenty of ventilation and natural light.
