Netflix’s ‘Formula 1: Drive To Survive’ Season 6 Trailer Teases Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari Move

Formula 1: Drive to Survive Season 6 drums up even more drama around what’s already one of the most eventful F1 off-seasons in recent memory.

We begin with the eccentric and mercurial former Haas principal Guenther Steiner. His departure from his team, which he had led for many years, was announced by Haas in January, much to everyone’s dismay. Drive to Survive fans.

“Hello, little fish, can you bite, please?” he says from a dock before revealing his true thoughts on angling. “This should be relaxing, but it’s fucking boring.”

The biggest post-season development was the announcement of Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in 2025, which will make the seven-time champ’s upcoming 12th season with Mercedes his last.

Drive to Survive editors teased the move with what’s likely an out-of-context snippet of a conversation between Hamilton and team principle Toto Wolff, “You can be here for 20 more years,” Hamilton says. “I can’t.”

We also see glimpses of the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix and Daniel Ricciardo’s brief return to Red Bull Racing as its test driver—for 2024, he has a seat alongside Yuki Tsunoda at Red Bull’s second team, RB Formula One Team (formerly AlphaTauri).

The trailer’s faux finale features Steiner again, this time in a more pensive mood. “Sometimes I say, ‘Why am I doing this.’ In the end, if you love racing, this is what you want to do.”

The last real shot is a funny exchange between actor Ryan Reynolds and Alpine driver Esteban ocon. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Rob McElhenney is the star of Alpine and owns a stake of 24 percent. Ocon explains to Reynolds that he’s “going to be in the Netflix series,” to which Reynolds responds, “Finally!”
