The history of math score improvement

Since 2019, Khan Academy, in partnership with NWEA, has been running a program named MAP Accelerator. It offers personalized learning pathways based on the MAP Growth scores of students. The program is a success. A study that was conducted in 2021-2022, which surveyed over 329K students from grades 3-8 at 1,367 schools, found that students who used MAP Accelerator for 30+ minutes per day exceeded growth projections between 26% and 38%. These gains were consistent in all grades, as well across student demographic groups, such as those who considered race/ethnicity or gender, or the proportion of students that qualify for free/reduced lunch.

Khan Academy and NWEA agreed that MAP Accelerator would function as a NWEA traditional Instructional Connections program partner to best serve our District Partners. 

We’re excited to share that beginning in the 2024–2025 school year, Khan Academy will be offering school districts the opportunity to purchase an add-on to the Khan Academy Districts Partnership called “Learning Paths informed by MAP Growth.”
