Hideki kamiya will be leaving Platinum Games in the next month. Kamiya founded the Osaka studio, Japan in 2006. He then went on direct games such as Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101. According to a studio statement and Kamiya’s personal Twitter account, his final day will be October 12.
As for the reason, neither Platinum’s tweets nor Kamiyas’ own statements give a clear answer. Platinum says it is looking forward to what Kamiya does next and thanks him for his hard work. Kamiya, on the other hand, notes that leaving was not easy but feels it was for the better.
Here’s Platinum’s statement:
“We regret that Hideki Kamieya will leave PlatinumGames in October 2023.
“We are deeply grateful for his innovative ideas, leadership and contribution to our growth at PlatinumGames, from the very beginning to today.
“We think that he’ll continue to be successful as a creator of games in the future. We are excited to see the gaming industry flourish with his involvement. “We wish him the very best in the future.”
