Cowboy Action Shooters, Old West Hardware fans and Old West enthusiasts just received a long-awaited update. Heritage Badlander shotguns now come in 20-gauge or.410 calibers, a dramatic increase to the line’s potential.

Heritage Badlander Adds 12-gauge, .410 Bore

Each side-byside shotgun comes with an 18.5 inch barrel that’s been coated in a modern black oxide, which is corrosion-resistant. The walnut wood stock houses the entire shotgun. The brass bead sights help shooters to get on target. The safety is mounted on the tang and has two positions. The twin triggers are used to select the barrel.

The new Badlander is just as good for Cowboy Action Shooting and home defense, small game hunting, and more. The new Badlander does the same thing, but with more chambering options.

Ballistic reported on December 19, 2023:

The ol’ double-barrel goes by many names, from coach gun to game getter. Its classic form embodies Old West spirit. Heritage Badlander Shotguns are a modern take on an Old West coach gun. They come in a side-by-side 12-gauge package.

Heritage Badlander Shotgun

The Heritage Badlander is inspired by the Old West side-by sides of yesteryear. The Heritage Badlander comes with two barrels measuring 18.5 inches, which are coated in a black oxide, a corrosion-resistant coating. Modern manufacturing is combined with simplicity and durability. A brass bead is located between the barrels and provides the aiming point. The Turkish walnut wood adds a nice finishing touch to this classic design.

The tang-mounted, two-position safety rests within easy reach of the shooter’s thumb. Each barrel requires a trigger pull. The cylinder bore of this shotgun makes it suitable for Cowboy Action Shooting, Cowboy Defense or home defense. This little gun would be useful for the ranch and farm.

The Badlander is available for retail at $894.99. Heritagemfg.com has more information.

Editor’s Take:

The Badlander looks and feels like a double-gun from the Old West. But it’s made with modern materials and techniques. For anyone looking to get into Cowboy Action Shooting, here’s a great entry point. If you’re looking for the ultimate in simplicity, reliability and home defense blaster then a break-option dual is hard to beat. When you chamber in 12-gauge ammunition, it is easy to kill small animals or feel protected. It is for good reason that the big 12 remains timeless. It still accomplishes a number of tasks exceptionally well.
