
The NGA Center for Best Practices helps states and territories strengthen their healthcare workforce. This is done with the goal of improving health outcomes, reducing costs, producing high quality data and creating a flexible, accessible and skilled healthcare workforce. It is essential to have a competent workforce in order to ensure that residents’ health is improved and care is available, affordable, and of high quality. The NGA Center helps states and territories plan and build a workforce capable of meeting the demands of a transformed healthcare system while increasing economic activity. This involves providing technical support in key areas of workforce priority, such as:
- Planning and redesigning the health care workforce
- Identifying strategies for better collecting and analyzing data to inform policy and evaluate it
- Aligning educational and training outcomes to population health needs
