Governors’ Actions to Accelerate Infrastructure Projects – 2023 NGA Annual Meeting

Governors across the country are working on solutions that make sense, regardless of party affiliation or state. This will help to speed up and deliver benefits to energy and infrastructure nationwide. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act have created a historic opportunity for infrastructure projects to be funded with $1.4 trillion from energy, transportation and telecommunications.

In February 2023 Governors established a bipartisan Energy and Infrastructure Working Group with the goal of developing solutions to streamline permit processes. The Working Group was co-chaired Utah Governor Spencer Cox The following are some examples of how to get started: Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, released a bipartisan vision of ways to accelerate project delivery – several tenets of which were incorporated into the debt ceiling agreement, the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023, recently passed by Congress The following are some examples of how to get started: signed into law by the President in early June.
