While Red Sox fans may be disappointed that the front office didn’t go “full throttle” during the offseason, beer lovers are sure to be rejoicing this spring and summer at Fenway Park.

The team will take the field on April 9 for its home opener. Fans can enjoy a cold beverage in a cup or can of 25 ounces. Additionally, there will be additional serving stations throughout the stadium.

The Boston Licensing Board approved an increase in the size of alcohol cans and cups, from 16 to 25 ounces. It also increased the number of stations serving only beer and other beverages to 18 from 14.

Dennis A. Quilty, an attorney representing Pitchers Mound, LLC, which conducts business for Diamond at Fenway, explained to the Licensing Board how the larger cans, cups and cups are the same as those sold at Gillette Stadium, in Foxboro, TD Garden, in West End, and Xfinity Center, in Mansfield.

“This is kind of standard in the industry these days,” Quilty said on Wednesday, “and we wanted to make sure we made the request before the board before the season obviously.

The proposal was approved unanimously by the board of directors on Thursday. All large-scale events will be affected by the changes.
