Bal Gangadhar Tilak was born at Ratnagiri. MaharashtraIn July 1856. He was both a lawyer and a freedom fighter, but became known more as Lokmanya(which means “accepted by the people as their leader”) Tilak, a title that reflected the immense respect he garnered among the people.
