Backcountry Magazine Welcomes Karianne S. Shetter

Backcountry Magazine Karianne Shetter has joined the design team. Most recently a member of Darn Tough’s eCommerce team, she joins Backcountry’s art director Mike Lorenz.

“Karianne has been a breath of fresh air with a super creative approach and positive outlook to our team,” Lorenz says. “Super thankful to have her on the team.”

Originally from York, Pennsylvania, Shetter found her way to Vermont in 2014 as a student at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester. She studied Media Studies and Journalism, as well as Digital Arts. Shetter was introduced to skiing at this time.

Following her graduation from Saint Michael’s in 2017, Shetter headed to Alaska, where she worked as a glacier guide for the summer, before returning to the Green Mountain State.

Shetter was hired as a junior design by Vermont adventure accessory manufacturer Skida. In this role, she worked on Skida’s consumer-facing marketing materials—email newsletters, website graphics, shop POP—in addition to helping with design on each year’s collection of patterns. She was then promoted as a brand designer at Skida.
