Jason Green was killed on Friday in Brockton. Tim Cruz, Plymouth’s DA, said that a 17 year old has been charged with a firearm offense.
“(Massachusetts State Police) and (Brockton police) are investigating the fatal shooting of a 15 year-old male that occurred yesterday at 3:23 pm at 131 Lynn Road in Brockton,” Cruz said in a tweet Saturday. “A 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm.”
Jason Green was identified as the victim.
Green’s life was “cut short due to gun violence by someone he believed was his friend,” family and friends wrote in a GoFundMe page dedicated to funeral expenses.
“Jason was an amazing, funny, smart, uplifting, pure and genuine young man,” the page states. “He was a great big brother to his baby brother. A wonderful son.”
The high school sophomore loved “playing sports, dancing, rapping, singing, and playing on his playstation with his friends and family,” the group continues, and was “a big class clown but always did his school work.”
In a comment, Brockton teacher Cayla Marks notes Green “often contributed wonderfully complex ideas to the classroom and pushed his peers to be their best selves.”
